The primary goal of the Matthew Anthony Moreno Memorial Foundation is to revitalize Matt’s spirit here on Earth and his compassion for others. To accomplish this goal, we will honor and award support to those that represent a partial expression of Matt’s spirit as they strive to actualize their full potential in life.

Matt was an intelligent, charismatic, athletic, ambitious, and entrepreneurially minded young man who always sought to improve himself, inside and out. This became explicitly evident in reading through his personal journal after his departure. The primary focus of his self-assessment was the morality of his character. He possessed genuine compassion for others, a great sense-of-humor, and was an inspiration to many that knew him.

As an athlete, Matt would always do whatever ‘the team’ needed from him, and do it well, both on and off the field. While he was proud of his accomplishments, his personal metric for success was always the performance of ‘the team’, which he essentially treated like an extended family. Fortunately, this was a characteristic shared by many of his friends. In navigating their respective ways through life together, they were always there for each other in a ‘family-like’ manner.

Matt’s nuclear family feels blessed as they continue to feel the love shared between Matt and his friends. It has been very therapeutic, and the family is eternally grateful for the memories and sentiment shared by those that knew him. Supporting others was something he was clearly committed to doing with his life. Consequently, the family is wholly committed to keeping his virtuous legacy alive, through honors and awards offered in his name, through the Matthew Anthony Moreno Foundation, also known as ‘Matt’s Love’.
